Installation and upkeep
Common questions
Tank or tankless: which should I get?
The tank model is the lower-cost option and pours instantly from storage. The tankless model frees up cabinet space, adds an alkaline stage and lets you change filters yourself. It takes a few seconds to start flowing because the water is made on demand.
Why is the water cloudy at first?
With the alkaline filter, cloudiness comes from the filter activating minerals and the bubbles are oxygen. Both settle after the water runs for a moment.
Why is my TDS reading higher with the alkaline filter?
The alkaline stage adds minerals back into the water, so the TDS number goes up. That is the filter working, not a problem.
Do I need a softener too?
Not for drinking water. Reverse osmosis handles the kitchen tap. A softener protects the rest of the house from scale. Many El Paso homes get both.
