Ownership cost
What Does a Water Treatment System Cost After Installation?
After installation, the ongoing costs are softener salt, reverse-osmosis filter changes and, after the first year, any service trips. Here is exactly what each one costs with an Honest Water system.
Ongoing costs
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Softener salt | Customer purchases as needed; typical bags about $8 to $10 each |
| Tank RO annual filter service | $199 when Honest Water performs the annual filter change |
| HW800 AlkaPro tankless RO | Owner-replaceable quick-connect cartridges; no service call needed for a normal cartridge change |
| Service trip | Waived during the first year; $99 after |
How much salt will I use?
It varies substantially. Salt use depends on:
- Household water use
- Hardness setting
- Softener capacity
- Regeneration efficiency
We don't publish a single annual salt figure because it would be wrong for most homes. Check the brine tank monthly at first, then every 2 to 3 months once you know your usage. Our demand-initiated, upflow counter-current valves regenerate only when needed, which helps keep salt use down.
